China’s top political advisory body to hold annual session from March 4 to 10
The National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), the country’s top political advisory body, will start its annual session in Beijing on Tuesday afternoon, announced a spokesman on Monday.
The third session of the 14th National Committee of the CPPCC is scheduled to conclude on March 10, Liu Jieyi, the spokesman for the session, told a press conference in the Chinese capital.
“The third session of the 14th CPPCC National Committee will open at 3:00 p.m. tomorrow at the Great Hall of the People and close on the morning of March 10. The session will last for six days. Its main agenda includes hearing and deliberating on the work report of the Standing Committee of the CPPCC National Committee and the report on proposal-related work; sitting in on the third session of the 14th National People’s Congress, hearing and discussing the government work report and other related reports; deliberating on and passing the political resolution of the third session of the 14th CPPCC National Committee, the resolution of the work report of the Standing Committee, the resolution of the report on the work on proposals since the second session of the 14th CPPCC National Committee, and a report on the review of proposals made at the third session of the 14th CPPCC National Committee,” said Liu.
“During the session, there will be an opening meeting, a closing meeting, and two plenary meeting addresses. Multiple sector group meetings for committee members will be held in the members’ residences, and consultative meetings will be held for some sectors. Foreign envoys to China will be invited to sit in on the opening and closing meetings,” said Liu.
Three media interviews with CPPCC National Committee members will also be held before the session concludes, the spokesman said.
