Africa CDC symbolizes noteworthy China-Africa health cooperation
The China-built Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) has dramatized the milestone achievement in the collaborative effort between China and Africa to build a Global Community of Health for All.
The Africa CDC headquarters, which is regarded as a flagship project in China-Africa public health cooperation, was officially inaugurated in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa in January 2023. In November 2023, the Africa CDC also unveiled a China-aided reference laboratory at its headquarters.
“And we believe that this building is playing a key role. We have the public health emergency operations center, one of the largest ones in the world, while we are also providing training and support to all of our member states,” said Dr. Jean Kaseya, Director General of the Africa CDC.
Located in the southern suburbs of Addis Ababa, the modern new headquarters of the Africa CDC will significantly enhance disease diagnosis, monitoring and epidemic response capabilities across African countries.
The Africa CDC serves as a vast network binding together doctors and patients. On its shoulders rests a whole continent’s hope for good health.
